As a Fellow of ISMAUK I have experienced excellent support and resources in stress management over the years since 2009. The community is welcoming, and the professional development opportunities have significantly enhanced my skills. The insightful workshops and events have kept me updated with the latest professional research. ISMAUK membership is invaluable for individuals and workplaces who are dedicated to preventing stress and promoting wellbeing. I sincerely wish a very successful 50th Anniversary year for ISMAUK.

The rapid and continuous changes to our lives in the last 20-30 years, due to advancing technologies such as the worldwide web, email, social media, robotics, and more recently artificial intelligence (think Chat GPT), while providing many benefits, have led to increasing challenges, demands and pressures (often 24 X 7) on workplaces, communities, families and individuals. This has resulted in increasing levels of stress, as evidenced by rising numbers of people suffering from a range of debilitating mental health issues. Consequently, the need for support in responding effectively to these challenges has never been greater. ISMA, which this year is celebrating 50 years of assisting businesses and organisations in reducing workplace stress and enhancing employee wellbeing, is well placed through its global network to continue this important work.

As a futurist, I’m aware of how much stress and anxiety affect a person’s ability to cope today, which means anticipating tomorrow becomes an almost insurmountable endeavour. The work ISMAUK does is invaluable in addressing our stress levels and equipping people with tools and insights necessary to overcome its debilitating effects. That stress is now on our conversational agenda helps us find the language needed to understand it. Thank you, ISMAUK, for initiatives such as Stress Awareness Week and the Stress Management Awards.

My lived experience as a young carer, in the army, and as a war veteran make me uniquely qualified to understand the pressures and stresses faced by people in our communities today. At the Standing Tall Foundation, where we assist people with issues such as homelessness, attempted suicide, job loss, depression and mental health, we are proud to be associated with like-minded organisations such as ISMAUK. As official supporters of ISMAUK, we are keen to be involved with them as they continue working, in their 50th year, towards the elimination of the stigma that attaches to stress and mental health issues and promote best practice in stress management, and on a practical level offer counselling and coaching services to support these priorities.

Andy Reid MBE, Founder & Chairman, The Standing Tall Foundation

I am very pleased to be part of the ISMA international community. As an organisation specialising in stress reduction, stress management, resilence and wellbeing, ISMA is one of the most effective I know. As they celebrate 50 years of dedication to promoting sound knowledge and best practice in workplace and personal stress management, nationally and internationally, I salute their achievements. I count myself fortunate, as a researcher in meaning-oriented business, occupational psychotherapy and counselling, to be amongst the many experts that ISMA have on board.
