We are delighted to be one of the official supporters of ISMAUK in their vital campaign to reduce the stigma surrounding stress-related and mental health issues. Over the last five years we have been pleased to assist ISMAUK in suggesting, identifying and introducing speakers and participants, who have also delivered extraordinary and life-affirming presentations to members and guests of The Leaders Club. Now in our 16th year, at The Leaders Club we are focused on bringing great minds together, inspiring leaders, integrating ideas, influencing policy, and acting as a conduit for the development, mentoring and encouragement of the leaders of the future. We believe that a key responsibility for leaders is to prioritise and support employee health and wellbeing.

Warmest congratulations to ISMAUK on 50 years of inspiring and supportive initiatives such as founding the now widely accepted and established national Stress Awareness Day and International Stress Awareness Week. I am proud to be a full member of this leading professional association for personal and workplace stress management. ISMAUK is dedicated to helping individuals, employees and senior management with advisory, coaching and training services. Thank you and congratulations ISMAUK!

ISMA deserves to celebrate its success in disseminating knowledge of stress management and wellbeing across the world for 50 years. As a physiologist, my work as an educator and author focuses on the human body’s organs and systems. Time and again, research has shown that stress is a contributing factor to all the major diseases. The stress response is complex but much more than purely physiological; it’s about our emotional needs too. For me, the collaborative approach I’ve experienced through working with other members of ISMA has been incredibly valuable. It’s enabled me to be part of an effective network of people sharing ideas and best practices. ISMA’s 50th anniversary also provides us with an opportunity to look to the future. Our environment is changing rapidly with new threats to physiological wellbeing because of thermal stress due to climate change. I’m sure ISMA members will continue prioritising individual resilience and supporting communities to develop preparedness for extreme heat events over the next 50 years.

There has never been a more important time for employers to put proactive measures in place for their employees to challenge and reduce work-related stress. Mental wellbeing generally, and in the workplace specifically, is already a significant issue, and widely expected to have even greater impact in the coming years. Employers are in a unique position to be able to influence and support their employees with this. Working with ISMAUK can help reduce some of the work-related aspects of stress.
