To deliver on this mission, ISMAUK is committed to six core objectives:
1. Raising Standards in Stress Management and Wellbeing
We set and uphold high professional standards so that individuals and organisations working in stress management and mental wellbeing operate with integrity, competence and consistency. Our commitment to high standards includes the creation of the ISMAUK Stress Management Awards in 2024, recognising organisations that demonstrate outstanding leadership in reducing stress and promoting mental wellbeing. Our work helps employers and practitioners adopt approaches that directly reduce stress and support better mental health.
2. Providing Education, Training and Recognition
ISMAUK offers training, resources and recognised programmes designed to build capability across the wellbeing sector. By equipping practitioners and organisations with the right knowledge and skills, we enable them to respond effectively to stress and create supportive, high-performing workplaces.
3. Advocating for Better Mental Health and Wellbeing at Work
We champion the importance of healthy workplace cultures and the employer’s duty of care. ISMAUK works with policymakers, business leaders and international stakeholders to influence legislation, raise awareness and strengthen national and global conversations around stress, wellbeing and mental health.
4. Supporting Organisations in Meeting Their ESG Commitments
ISMAUK plays a strategic role in helping employers strengthen the Social and Governance pillars of ESG. Through our guidance on stress management, psychological safety and leadership accountability, we enable organisations to integrate wellbeing into their policies, reporting frameworks and performance standards. This helps ensure mental health is embedded, measurable and aligned with organisational values.
5. Increasing Awareness and Reducing Stigma Around Stress and Mental Health
Through Stress Awareness Day, International Stress Awareness Week and our annual online Global Stress & Wellbeing Summit, we spark global dialogue and encourage individuals, organisations and communities to take proactive steps towards reducing stress and supporting better mental wellbeing.
6. Building a Global Community of Wellbeing Professionals
