I'm Gavin, a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist working with adults who are ready to stop managing their inner world and start understanding it. My practice, Thought Compass, offers a grounded, non-prescriptive space where change happens not through willpower or self-improvement, but through awareness — working with your nervous system rather than against it.
My approach integrates cognitive behavioural therapy and clinical hypnotherapy to help clients examine the unconscious patterns and stories that shape how they think, feel, and respond. This isn't mysticism — it's practical, evidence-based work that takes the whole person seriously.
I specialise in working with people navigating stress and anxiety, imposter thoughts, performance pressure, creative blocks, shame, and the particular weight of midlife transitions. I also work frequently with LGBTQ+ clients, and with actors and creative professionals who find that the pressure to perform extends well beyond the stage or the screen.
Before training as a therapist, I spent over thirty years working as a professional actor and voice artist — which means I bring not only clinical training, but lived understanding of what it is to manage anxiety under pressure, to face rejection, and to wonder whether you truly belong in the room. That experience shapes how I work, and who I work best with.
Sessions are available online and in person, and I offer a free 20-minute introductory call so we can explore whether working together feels right.
