Professor Stephen Palmer PhD CPsychol CSci CBiol FISMA (Hon) President – ISMA UK and ISMA International


Professor Stephen Palmer is the President of ISMA UK and of ISMA International. Since joining in 1987, he has supported ISMA’s stress awareness activities and projects to educate both businesses and employees in how to improve mental health and wellbeing. He has represented ISMA at national and international conferences, sharing research and interventions to prevent work-related stress. He is co-editor of the ISMA-sponsored academic publication, The International Journal of Stress Prevention and Wellbeing.

Stephen is an award-winning Chartered Psychologist. He is also a Chartered Scientist and Chartered Biologist. He is Founder Director of the Centre for Stress Management and the Centre for Coaching, London, and former visiting Professor of Work-Based Learning and Stress Management at Middlesex University. Other roles include Professor of Practice at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Adjunct Professor of Coaching Psychology, Aalborg University, Denmark.

Stephen has written and edited over 50 books and published over 250 articles and book chapters on a range of topics, including stress management, resilience and wellbeing. His personal interests include jazz and coastal walking.
